Board of Health Workshop Minutes 1-9-2012
MINUTES
BOARD OF HEALTH WORKSHOP
MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2012 AT 9AM

PRESENT:        Dr. James Taylor, Chairman, Pat Lariviere, R.N., Co-Chairman, Beverly Knox, R.N., Dr. Lois Roth-Johnson, Dr. Martin Haspel, Jane Crowley, M.S., R.S., Health Agent, Susan Barker, Assistant Health Agent, John Knight, Board of Selectmen BOH Liason.

I.      OPENING STATEMENTS

Pat Lariviere had statement and questions regarding bedrooms that are not used as bedrooms.  Jane Crowley updated the Board on the local regulations which became more stringent in the year 2000.  The regulation enforces the properties which are serviced by systems which at the time of design were over designed for the use of the dwelling and which have less than 10,000 sq ft per bedroom of lot size.  The regulation enforces the environmental compliance and the public health factor of the property being previously nonconforming and not allowing it to become more nonconforming.  Jane stated that there was no real regulation enforcing this until the mid 1990’s, which was Board of Health implemented.

Questions:  Should Board of Health be concerned about increases in square footage?
